We are pre vetted site for the Fogarty Fellowship program. Health professionals can apply to conduct research at St. John’s with financial and technical support from the based Fogarty center based in the USA.
The specific aim of the Fogarty Framework program was to establish an administrative framework that would bring together new research and training efforts, as well as supportive activities pertaining to nutrition and global health across Harvard University and St. John’s Research Institute in Bangalore, India, along with institutions in Tanzania and Brazil. The goal was to develop a community of scholars in nutrition and global health by strengthening connections among and collaborations between faculty and students, and increase the number of students interested in nutrition and global health research, training, and later careers. The key component was to establish internships for students from Harvard at SJRI. These were mentored research opportunities for students to develop and refine substantive knowledge and research skills in nutrition and global health. Internships were for durations of 8-10 weeks. Till date we have had 8 students who have come for their internship to SJRI. There has been a publication from the internship in 2011, while three manuscripts are presently under review.
